Mark’s parents asked everyone to give their birthday wishes and what touched me the most is when Bamboo (and I’ll just paraphrase him a bit because you know how parties and memories go, but this struck me) told Mark that night:
“It’s been a while, but I’m glad that when I look across the table, I still see my old friend.”
I DIE.
Bamboo is probably the ONLY musician I have never spoken more than three words to, only because I am completely and sincerely stunned by his presence. When he spoke, everyone intently listened as if a force suddenly robbed us of our ability to speak.
And yes this was last night and everyone I bumped into today, and probably tomorrow too, I’ll probably be telling the non-story of my encounter with him last night.
I posted something in livejournal 6 years ago, about how he ran across the table outside of greenbelt three when he saw Francis and I walking and asked us to join him for coffee, and even though I was merely a listener, my reaction to that event spanned 2 and a half pages LOL
I remember in 2006, Fran gave his wife copies of photos I took of them at a gig and she said that they were amazing photos. I should probably be ashamed to be typing this for someone who works so closely in the music industry. It’s just that in my opinion, nobody really comes close to being the man and the performer that he is.
and I don’t care if I never get to work with them after this because I’m too much of a fan, although I did style them for a yes mag shoot in 2007, hahahahaha. So my life is set.
Nakasabay namin siya ni Kiko sa plane back from Manila to Cebu last Summer and wala rin ako nasabi as usual. Kahit nung Tanday Rockfest andun lang ako sa gilid looking on. haha (I hope hindi siya nagiinternet, haha)
